Save valuable time with our do-it-yourself workshops. Each workshop contains a fully prepared string of Liberating Structures to help your team use Scrum more effectively. People who support our mission through patreon.com can download all digital content for free. This benefit starts from $5 USD/month.

How does this help your team?

One of the causes of this is when people focus on Scrum as a 'methodology' instead of the underlying purpose. It is easy to 'implement' Scrum by changing a few job titles, adding 'Scrum meetings' to an already overcrowded schedule, and hoping for the best.

While this mechanical view is understandable, it misses the entire purpose of the framework. The Scrum framework exists to reduce the risk of wrong assumptions about what stakeholders need. This includes what stakeholders assume their needs are in the first place. Scrum is all about addressing those needs in small steps, starting with the most important ones, and using each step to test both the need and the proposed solution. Obviously, you cannot do this without close collaboration with stakeholders (users and customers).

We designed this string to help you clarify why your product matters to your stakeholders and identify how your team should collaborate to deliver that effectively.

This string taps into the five core components: purpose, principles, participants, structure, and practices. We recommend that you revisit and update the P2P periodically. This string is designed for two hours. If you don't have that time, you can break it up into two sessions (e.g. purpose and principles in one, and the rest in the other).

How does it work?

The PDF outlines a detailed tried-and-tested 120-minute workshop that relies on Liberating Structures to engage and unleash your team. The string is designed with virtual teams in mind and includes:

  • Purpose-to-Practice
  • Nine Whys
  • Min Specs
  • 1-2-4-ALL
  • 25/10 Crowd Sourcing
  • 15% Solutions

You can run this string with pretty much any audience. Although the invitations and steps for this particular string are aimed at Scrum Teams and their stakeholders. A small-scale workshop would be only with your Scrum Team. A recommended large-scale workshop would include your stakeholders as well.

What do you receive?

  • A 13-page full-color guide (PDF).
  • We take you through the flow of the string in great detail. Not only do we explain all the steps involved, but we also explain why they are happening. This should make it easier to design your own strings in the future.
  • The instructions support all virtual collaboration tools where you can create breakouts or separate channels occasionally (such as Zoom, GotoWebinar, and Teams). You can set up an additional virtual whiteboard in a tool like Mural, Google Slides, or Miro if you prefer.
  • The PDF outlines additional resources and useful reading, both to prepare and to distribute afterward.
